Etruria Netvis
If you wonder what a 5000-year-old Mesopotamian is doing with an avatar from an Etruscan cinerary urn, I'll tell you. Absent a year from AW, on my return I discovered Etruria and fell in love with it. And when I found on the web this scowly old geezer atop his pot of ashes, I just had to adopt him, warts and all, as my avatar!

So welcome to my Bitum! As you wander through my house you will discover places that serve as my homebase for certain activities. In the Courtyard I conduct my social activities here at AncientWorlds and in Babylon. My Library is for my historical and academic pursuits. Thanks for visiting my home!

Where did I come from? Where did any of us come from? I don't recall exactly how I landed in your Babylon. Nor how I landed on this planet, for that matter. I am known by my friends as "The Babbleonian" or "The Babylonian," not only because my utterances are often inscrutable, like those of my 2-year-old grandson Jacob, but because I go on & on in endless fountains of words & ideas.

I discovered Jojo's delightful website while surfing the web for pictures of ziggurats to illustrate an essay for little Jacob, called "Jacob's Ladder,"showing how Jacob's dream at Bethel of the ladder from heaven and the angels going up and down was inspired by memories of Babylonian ziggurats and their staircases.

Musing on these matters also sent me searching in old notebooks from decades back that I filled with pictures and writings on many things Mesopotamian & Sumerian. I've started to polish & illustrate some of these, and in lieu of creating my own website, I might share some of them here. I have a nice page on Lilith, if anyone is interested, in addition to the Jacob's ladder essay. Also one on the Siege of Jerusalem in 701 and the mystery of why the Assyrians suddently abandoned their siege. Do you have any thoughts or theories on this?
