Salve Amici!
Welcome to my Domus! I am of equestrian origin, a poor cousin to the great Marcus Ulpius Traianus. I have been acting as the unofficial biographer of the Roman emperors and have been busy in my library writing away. Please feel free to wander through my home and pause for some refreshment.
...With notebook in hand I was pondering these topics,
when my house seemed brighter than a moment before.
Then holy Janus , an amazing sight with those two heads,
sudenly met me face to face.
Frightened out of my wits, I felt my hair stand on end
and suddenly an icy chill gripped my heart.
With a staff in his right hand, and a key in his left, the god
uttered these words from his forward mouth:
"Don't be afraid, industrious poet of the calendar; learn what you want, and take my words to heart.
The ancients call me Chaos, because I'm a primitive matter.
See how I sing about events of long ago.
Ovid Fasti
