to my Wat in the beautiful city of Angkor. Some here refer to me as JoraniSreyMau or JoraniSraem. I do appreciate their compliments, but please just call me Iman? You see, my outward appearance was not always one of beauty. Come.. Sit.. I will share my story.
I came to Angkor as a frail young girl of Africa, sent away from my homeland by my grandmother. Much of my family had already died from the illnesses of poverty. Of those who were strong, most were killed. Ongoing social unrest makes sickness and violence a way of life in my homeland.
Please do not be saddened for me. I think of my life as a series of battles won. Remember, we are all heroes, even if just for one day. The promise of each new day now brings with it fresh blessings.
There is more to tell of this, my hidden past, but please share your story. Were you always here, in this beautiful city? Or are you an import, like me?
Do you like my husband's playing? Some say he is a legend living among us. If you like, we can enjoy more of his beautiful music at David Bowie Wonderworld. Or, we can visit his Oriental space.
