I am Sister Claire de Namur Siling.
As the 5th daughter, and the second youngest of 11 children, of the Comte de Namur there is little hope of my doting father finding me a husband of noble stock as he cannot afford another dowry.
I do not wish to disappoint my father and I do not wish to take vows, as perhaps there is a gentleman willing to take me as his bride, somewhere...
I do not wish to remain cloistered in the Solar of our Castle which is under perpetual construction. Although, it is an improvement from that Roman rubble we did live in. Therefore, I have chosen a life as a Beguine.
I choose to travel from village to village, town to town, and stay at convents and nunneries (a promise I made to my father - he worries for my safety. I think he forgets I was raised by 6 boys), or at homes of other nobles, should an invitation be proffered.
My journey to help find homes for those who wish to express their spirituality outwith family confinces has given me opportunities to see places I knew not existed, and I enjoy it. Oh what adventures! What freedom!
