Em Hotep

Welcome to my Per!
angoldankhlife.gif

I am Meresankh Nitiqret. My first name, Meresankh, means, "She who loves life." Indeed, I do! A wife of Pharaoh in the Fourth Dynasty was named "Meresankh," so it is an old, proud name.

My family name is that of a female pharaoh who ruled at the end of the Sixth Dynasty. The Greek historian Herodotus claims she committed suicide by suffocating herself in a room of ashes, but I personally don't believe it.

Please look around and be comfortable. You can leave me a message by clicking on the button below.

Thank you for visiting my home!

I have recently made my home in Egypt, in Iunu, north of Mennefer. To visit there, you may click on the Iunu sign below.

CREDITS

Most graphics on my site are borrowed and made by talented others.

The avatar is a combination of the art of Scottish artist David Roberts and portrait from South African artist Winifred Brunton, both of which I believe are in the area of public domain. The other images are paintings by David Roberts made during trips to Egypt in the 1840's.

The Iunu city plaque is from a painting done by Nineteenth Century Scottish artist, David Roberts, called "Heliopolis." The Prospering Sceptre nome plaque is from a tomb-based rendering of the Barque of Re that I've had in my collection for years. I don't know the artist. It's probably copied from an ancient tomb painting. I added all wording using Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0.

Some animated graphics are from Hathor's Realm.

The background came from my collection that I've snagged over the past several years. So do the animated scribes.

'Pretty As A Picture' - Which Artist Would Paint You?

You have the Vermeer girl look. A Vermeer girl appealed mostly to the old masters of the Dutch school, who painted pictures of everyday life as they knew it. With her fine, fair skin, she suited a light, natural, dewy make-up. The Vermeer Girl loved homely things, such as homemade soaps and candles. The following artists would have liked to paint you; Pieter de Hooch and Jan Vermeer.
