Please be welcome to my Dama, and watch out for Charita, my gaja (elephant), she is very silly and large but she will not hurt!
I am interested in learning and understanding Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a perfectly structured language, and is considered the mother of all Indo languages spoken today. Many linguistic experts believe that Sanskrit itself came from other lands, migrated to India, and became enmeshed in the local language.
However, in recent years findings and theories have altered. It appears there is proof that the Indus Valley civilization formed in of itself, without any outside influences, and therefore is responsible for this language in it's entirety! Interesting yes?
The Indus civilization began around 6,000 years ago and not only around the obvious Indus river, but another. Another river of life flowed in our region, but was assumed to be only a theory or myth until recent satellite proof became available. Now the river Saraswathi is an undeniable truth, and allowed the Indus civilizations to grow and prosper, with farming and trade throughout the entire region. The Indus were great builders too!
Speaking of Sanksrit, some common words in English one may find that are derivitives of older Sanskrit terms are 'bind' (from bandh, meaning to bind around), hiccup is a derivitive of hikki, and Barbara, from barbari meaning barbarian. These are just to name a few. Also my chosen name for this home, Dama, is also the derivitive of domicile!
Please be welcome in my dama, and enjoy the hospitality. Food, dancing and entertainment are not uncommon in this home!
