Lucius Junius Brutus Albinus
“Spemque metumque inter dubiis”
WINNER OF THE CORONA OBSIDIONALIS
Below is a little description of the, up-to-now, more dubious and complicated Senator of the “Republic Reborn”. Composed by Tacronicus Cornelius:
Yep. You knew this guy would be trouble right from the beginning.
Just look at that dark, brooding brow. The piercingly alert yet alarmingly beady eyes. The firmly set jaw.
That's our Brutus!
One of the things that makes Lucius Junius Brutus so interesting is that his character is so...well, umm...deep. Yes, deep...that's the word! And troubled...perhaps even conflicted. Here's the kind of character who will order an assassination of a troublesome local official, then cry into his toga in an act of (apparently genuine) remorse. Too bad the timeframe of "The Republic Reborn" takes place two thousand + years before the birth of Dr. Phil...he would have his hands full with this character!
Still...you have to give Brutus credit where credit is due. He has deliberately chosen to play his PC (that's "Player Character," his in-game persona) as a dark, cold and calculating fellow who is borderline evil, yet sensitive. That takes some doing, and we applaud him for it. (After all, anybody can play a "goody two-shoes" like Tiberius Gallus, but it takes some genuine depth to pull off this guy's PC.
Such is Lucius Junius Brutus; a man who wants nothing more desperately that to be a "Roman of Romans". Brutus was the first PC ever in the history of RR to be kicked out of the Senate Rolls only to come back by prosecuting the offending Consular with the help of his friends. Then, here he goes again to war in an alternative Germanic Invasion; and he fights bravely enough to save a legion - or what had left of it - from disaster, for which he was awarded the Grass Crown. He may got pretty injured in the process but hey! Glory isn't won effortlessly, now is it? Now, laying half-dead on a cart set for Bononia, the great hero returns home. But what will he find when he gets there?
That's our Republic Reborn! There’s no Marius… There’s no Sulla… Will there be a Lucius Junius Brutus?

The Republic Reborn
Position: Legatus
Level 3
The Gracchi, Champions of the Plebs, lie dead. Marius,
Sulla, the great names of known history shall never come to
prominence here. Will you take their role in history?
