Welcome to my beit al-sha'r, or 'house of hair'. Black tents such as these, sewn from strips of coarse fabric woven from goat hair, originated in Mesoptamia centuries ago and are the traditional dwelling for nomads of the Arabian Desert.

It is the way of the desert tribes that any traveller can recieve three days of hospitality at a beit al-sha'r, whether it belongs to a friend, a stranger, or even an enemy. So please be welcome to step inside and partake of qahwah saadah and unsweetened, fresh dates.
