Cuauhtémoc (c. 1502–February 28, 1525) was the last Aztec ruler (Tlatoani) of Tenochtitlán and the last "Aztec Emperor". The name means "descending eagle", from Nahuatl cuauhtli (eagle) and temoc (descent); by extension it can be interpreted as "setting sun". You can read more about Cuauhtémoc in my courtyard.

My name is truly the alpha and omega of the Aztec world - as Cuauhtémoc was the last, so Acamapichtli ('Handful of Reeds') was the first true Aztec huei tlatoani, ruling from 1375 to 1395.
