More commonly known as Bess of York, Elizabeth was the eldest child of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. Her brothers were the ill fated Edward V and Richard Duke of York who disappeared in the Tower of London in 1483. Her marriage to Henry Tudor in 1486 helped him cement his claim to the English throne after his army defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. The future Henry VIII was her second son. She died in 1503 at the age of 37 after giving birth to a daughter.
