Human Interest
Human interest essays are usually those warm fuzzy stories that tell about a good deed or happy ending.
For our purposes human interest will inlcude the warm fuzzy stuff, the slice of life stuff, biographies, and general musings also known as "personal essay" (i once read a very entertaining personal essay on the authors affinity for rocks of all kinds in an in-flight magazine).
More specifically, a historical human interest story might be the story of Pheidippides.
("Who" you ask? LOL, that is for you to find out and write a human interest story ;-). )
