"Step forward and compete against the strongest of the strong. Sweat
with the best athletes of the ages! Test the limits of your sinews and
strength. Strut your stuff, guys!
"I'll be one of the judges, standing right behind you and watching every move you make. Oh, and I'll probably watch where the caber lands too, so I can reward the best thrower with a big kiss at the end of the contest. And winners get a nice plaque as well.
"Spectators are also invited to witness this thrilling event and cheer
on their favorites...from a safe distance."
The rules of our caber toss are simple:
1) Three tosses per contestant, one a day. Footwork, form and accuracy count.
2) Distance of the throw doesn't matter.
3) Each caber will be bigger and heavier than the last.
How to toss the caber:
1) The caber will be delivered to you by three pole-boys.
2) Hoist the pole so that the narrow end is cradled in your clasped hands and balanced against your shoulder.
3) Once it is balanced, run forward with it to build momentum for the toss.
4) Thrust the caber upwards into the air (don't forget to let go) so that it flips over and falls on its heavy end.
5) The goal is accuracy not distance. A perfect toss will make the pole fall in a completely straight line and land perpendicular to your shoulders, at a "nooner" or twelve o'clock position.
6) All three tosses are scored according to how straight the pole lands.
7) Since this a roleplay caber toss, contestants will also be judged on the originality, humor and good sportsmanship of their "posts".
All contestants are asked to stay safely within the boundaries of the site's Code of Conduct. And if you are not familiar with Cornellia's Roleplay Etiquette, please do your homework before the race.
"Now show us what you're made of and start tossing those cabers!"
