Saint Paul visited the Galatians in the first century AD. Records of his travels are preserved in the Christian Bible.
In the first century AD, Saint Paul addressed the people living on the Anatolian Plateau as "Foolish Galatians". These former Celtic mercenaries, had been "Christianized" some fifty years earlier. Now, however, they seemed to be slipping back into some of their earlier Pagan ways. Paul wrote letters to their church leaders, pointing out their deviations and warning them to return to the "proper" beliefs.
