The flowering of literature and the arts across Europe. Writers and artists, seeking to emulate the cultures of Greece and Rome, developed new techniques and formulated new ideas in their attempts to apply the knowledge of the Ancients to the very different world of the 16th century. Important scientific and technological advances were made, making names like Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo famous.
