Blanche's refuge

Blanche's Summer villa, the Villa of the Papyri, takes its name from its impressive library of 2,000 rolls of papyrus. There we can find a collection of portraits of philosophers, orators and strategists, idealised statues and small fountain heads, that show quite clearly the influence of Greek artistic culture. This villa belonged to Caesar's father-in-law, Lucius Calpurnius Piso.
