Haustblót - The Sacred Vé
In the centre of Hedeby lies the sacred Vé - an enclosure marked out specially for high festivals such as the Haustblót.
Amidst the bustle and shouting of the festival crowd, there is one place in Hedeby which remains quiet. The open area in front of the Jarl's hall will soon see the ceremony which celebrates the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the long dark of winter. For now it is still, but soon the whole town and all its seasonal traders and guests will gather here to celebrate this great festival with solemnity followed by feasting and merriment ...
