Assessment levels will be ultra, high, medium, and low. Threat factors that will be considered in assessing risk will be the 3Ds:
Purple - Very Severe Highly dangerous threat type, very difficult to contain with a high probability of damage and infection. All machines should download the latest virus definitions immediately and execute a scan. Strikes suddenly and with unexpected speed. Difficult to remove. Such viruses are extremely virulent, but thankfully fairly rare. Virus protection upgrades critical. Red — Dangerous threat type, difficult to contain, with the possibility of serious damage to your computer if infected. Rapid spread to others. The latest virus definitions should be downloaded and installed immediately. Yellow — characterized either as widespread, but reasonably harmless and containable or potentially dangerous and uncontainable, but few reported cases. Damage to your system or theft of personal information possible or chances of catching it average. Worth making sure your virus protection files are updated, just in case. Green — keep a lookout; fairly low chance of damage. Low to moderate distribution in the wild, but reasonably harmless and containable or has not been reported in the wild yet, but is characterized by an unusual damage- or spread-routine or by some feature of the virus that makes headlines in the news. Also covers things that affect systems using a particular kind of relatively uncommon software. Probably safe to wait until next scheduled virus update occurs. Blue — For Hoaxes and/or Phishing emails. These types of emails are rampant and can sometimes fool you into submitting account information. They should be either ignored or better yet, deleted from your email immediately. Do NOT respond to these types of emails. They usually want your account numbers or an email address. White — For SPAM. SPAM is getting in everywhere. Spammers have figured out to infiltrate blogs, mobile phones and pretty much anything else to do with technology. |
