Bardic wisdom often included prophecy, foretellings and divination.
Prophetic verse was the gift of a skilled bard. Kings and queens often consulted their poets for omens and predictions. How did these seers unlock the future? The fate of a hero or kingdom may have been revealed through a reflection of patterns in the sky, earth and sea, through observation of animals, or through mystical symbols known only to a few. In Celtic spirituality, signs are everywhere for those who have the eyes to see, from the salmon to the eagle, from the casting of rune-sticks to the tracking of the stars.
