The Celtic Otherworld has been often evoked in the poetry, stories and songs of bardic traditions. It embraces the mythical western isles, the land of the dead, the kingdom under the sea, the fairy mounds, and the meeting places of gods and goddesses. Many a bard has become so enthralled with the Otherworld that they remain there forever, lost to all humanity. But those who return may bring back special knowledge or magical gifts to share.
