    Description of public transport

This thread forms part of the celebrations for the Gold Launch anniversary and will start on the 6th of october The boats we use are classed as punts. Every boat has a apanekatl (boatdriver)who steers the boat skillfully through the water by means of a long pole.

Please be advised not to speak to the apanekatl while he is driving because our canals are very busy and we don't want any of you getting their lovely robes wet because of some minor steering mistake.

Right, everybody, we've hired the boats (this is a flash site, but if you go to art and look under trajineras or xochimilco, you'll get a nice idea of what those boats looked like) which can be recognized by the large number three written in front of them...

Note that the number three is written as three dots in our writing system (like so: ...)

If you just say: "Nicnequizquiani nimitzmo tlacuililiz cente citlalli" to the apantekatl, and he will know that you belong to our group.

    Mind the gap!

So now that everyone is on board and some of you are still dry, Xolotl will tell you a little bit more about the history of Tenochtitlán and about the way we construct farmland.

After half an hour we will arrive at the largest market of our city where you will find exotic spices, the best fish of the continent, colourful rugs and textiles, the most precious jewellery, nicely decorated pottery, obsidian artifacts.
Make sure to bring your bag of beans (this is what you need to pay in for most of the goods that are sold here).
