The hometown of the wizard
Uxmal is not just another Mayan city. It is a magnificent city with brought avenues and impressive buildings in Puuc architecture. The palace is built in a big square and in the patio you will find a great variety of the botanic wonders this region has to offer. The walls are beautifully decorated with the fantastic Mayan stylish art, picturing mostly religeous stories. Highlight of the city is the Temple of the Dwarf, said to have been built over night it rizes high above the city. It's built in an extremly original way it's covered in red plaster and has detailed images of the raingod Chac to whom this pyramid is dedicated. It's splendour is enormous and it can well be compared to the pyramid at Gizeh or the temples of Athens.
