They were known as the People of Danu and are said to have come to Ireland from the north of Europe.
The Tuatha De Danann were said to be learned in the arts and magic and reported to be very strong and beautiful begins who mingled with mortals but were superior to them.
Their prinsicpal residences were Brugh na Boinne (Newgrange), an area along the River Boyne near the Stackallen Bridge in Leinster and the sid (ferry mound) of Femin in Tipperary.
