Amun, Re and Ptah, without their second.
His identity is hidden in Amun,
his is Re as face, his body is Ptah.
Karnak is a vast complex of Temples, Halls and hidden places. The main sanctuary is devoted to the worship of Amun. There are also Temples to Mut, wife of Amun and Khonsu, their son. Montu, the war God, Ptah, the creator God of Memphis and Osiris, King and judge of the underworld all have Temples within this complex.
The Temple is connected to the nile by canal. The landing stage and a small boat shrine of Amun sit at the entrance. Leading to the first Pylon is an avenue of ram-headed sphinxes protecting the figure of Ramesses II (and Seti I for RP purposes).
The first Pylon leads into the great "Court of the kings" whose achievements are recorded on its south side. Between the second and third Pylons sits the Hypostyle Hall. The roof of massive sandstone blocks is supported by a forest of 134 columns, 122 in the closed papyrus-bud style and 12 open papyrus columns in the central aisle. The clerestory window shafts allow light to enter into the hall and illuminate it but is otherwise dark.
Beyond the third Pylon stands an alabaster shrine of Amenhotep I. Here too, is the suite of Hatshepsut, the female Pharaoh. Just beyond the sixth Pylon is the Hall of Records where the military campaigns of Thutmosis III are recorded.
The sacred boat shrine lies just ahead of the Hall of Records with many small rooms situated beyond that. All of the walls and ceilings are beautifully decorated in relief with exotic birds and plants. Here, stories are told of the journey to the underworld and the lives of the dieties worshipped here. Sacred texts are also recorded here with instructions on the burial of the dead and the manner in which to live this life for optimum blessings.
It is a place that every Egyptian comes to for prayer and meditation. They come for blessings and incantations, for advice and healing of the spirit. Most importantly they come here to align themselves with the order of the universe. To become one with all that is great in this world and the next.
