when I was researching my Alexander the Great site, I was simply astounded to find that - as scanty and scarce as resources are! - the life of Alexander once he reached Persia, is starred by consistent references to the Babylonian star charts and astrological/astronomical calculations kept in Babylon and elsewhere. To sit there and read what the astronomers found in the stars about the Battle of Gaugamela, for example, the death of Darius, or even the death of Alexander . . . was spooky and amazing. Thanks, Meso, for giving me yet more awareness of what a precious historical resource Meso guarded all these millennia.
