    Like, say I believe my step sister to have stolen a necklace when it turned up missing, no one else had access to it and she admired it for a long time and has stolen from me in the past.

    unfortunately a true story. I found out years later that it wasn't she, that it was a friend who got access to the jewelry through another sister.

    Anyway, before i knew who it was, i *could* have forgiven her for her real wrongs against me and for the one it turned out I imagined.

    I am totally guessing here though.
