Epidauros is one of my favorite places. I knew little about it until two years ago when I visited, but the gentle atmosphere there even after 2000 years of neglect suggested the healing god's presence even now. I'd rank it up there with Delphi in terms of beauty and archaelogical remains.
There are poppies blooming everywhere, and dense groves of pines through which the wind blows making the sound of the ocean, even though the Bay of Corinth is many miles away. Olive groves cling to the hills. The theater is stunning; so too are the stadium, music hall, and many shrines and temples scattered around the most important one, that of Asklepios himself.
I'm still working on the Delphi portion of my Greece travel diary, but when I get to Epidauros (and my photos!) I'll be sure to drop a link here.
I'd love to see the Epidauros 'hood get active!
