I do my best to observe without being noticed. It is a crowd of thousands, a city unto it's self. Courtiers, royals, servants and servants of servants. It is hard to keep them straight. All who reside here, do so at the expense of the crown, more or less. There is a lot of gambling going on. It seems to be the number one form of entertainment. I do my best to follow the protocol, and keep silent as much as possible. I spend my days in the libraries, and speak only if spoken to. No one thus far has taken much interest in me. I do try to find the maze that brought me to this place in time, but they seem to have been removed. I can only wander about in the vicinity of where once they were. It was not long, in this manner, that a gentleman of the nobility appeared before me out of nowhere. Dressed in the finest indigo velvet and violet brocade, he wore the powdered wig. In the middle of the day, the man dazeled the eye. He carried a diamond studded walking stick. The buttons of his waist coat, and the buckles of his shoes were diamonds. Had I not known better, I would have taken him for the king, and they did bear a resemblance, he and Louie XV. He literally glowed, and was a charismatic presence. The light he radiated could have knocked me to the ground, but I refused to be bowled over by this display of power, and he found that to be an amusement. He was not alone, with him was that same black cat. It was the same one who wore a diamond collar; the one that I foolishly followed into the maze, and was responsible for my becoming lost in time. "Sir, allow me to introduce myself, I am the Count of Saint~Germain. I am considered to be a man of the past. You Sir, I know to be a man of the future. It is always been our destiny to meet each other, now in the present."
