I actually got chills reading about the article you featured on the fylakio (outpost) set up by Neachos on Fylaka. What immediately leaped to mind is that it was supposedly founded by Nearchos, Alexander's boyhood friend and favorite admiral, and must have been part of the long cruise Alexander commanded Nearchos to perform just before the horrible Gedrosian desert expedition . . . when Alexander (completely confused, as everyone was, by geography) was fascinated in exploring the coast of Arabia because he was considering it as his next "big conquest" and even wondered if there was a link between that part of the seas and the Nile. He died in Babylon, of course, just days before he was supposed to have embarked on that conquest.
Thank you so much for finding this! I had NO idea.
