From Ombos situtated on the high bank of a man made river the estate of the Ptolemy family stood.
A large estate, beautiful and painted with time...reeking of history and intrigue; this had been the seat of a family never afraid to get their hands dirty in politics, religion, medicine or common manual labor.
This was a family that became jack-of-all-trades.
The palatial dwelling of the Ptolemy's stood against stark and dark, save for the faint glow of a candle in one of the third floor windows. The moon provided a backdrop for the estate giving it an eery silhouette.
The lone chariot bounded down the avenue of papyrus leading up to the great stairs of the estate where a lone figure stood waiting.
Prince Imhotep immediately alighted from the Chariot, followed by Neris and quickly made his way up the stone and marble steps.
Glancing at the darkening sky he spoke.
'I suppose we should get in before my Lord Set unleashes his fury in torrents.'
Neris nodded his accquiesence and the figure standing in front of the entrace, Imhotep's sister, gave her concurrence.
Once inside the vast vestibule of the home he spoke.
'Amneris did you get the missive that was sent?'
he stood looking at his sister who had over time become one of the most beautiful women in a dark and intriguing fashion.
She was the dedicated mistress of Nepthys, Set's sister and consort and ferocious protector of Pharoah and Destroyer. To look on her still blew his mind in a number of ways.
She spoke in her characteristically grainy contralto
'yes brother I recieved your missive. Three women have been dispatched to the temple of Mut in karnak to assist the unknown in making absolutely sure that the betrayer is brought out of karnak and effectively killed. Two of the priestess's of Mut will be just that in order to divert attention away from the the third who will assist the unknown help you have sent. I must say brother...things don't seem to be progressing well and the Unspoken one is growing impatient as well as his supporters. I am also interested in knowing if Khepher-ra can be trusted?'
Imhotep strode thru the great hall into one of the side rooms which served as a parlor for guests...there the candles were lit and a fire in the brazier warmed the rather chilly air.
He starred into the flames for a while, his thoughts running.
Amneris came to stand near him waiting patiently for his response.
'Sister I am considering the petulant Khepher-ra closely. The reason he was employed was of his closeness to the previous pharaoh...but I fear he grows to be erratic and erratic people are not a safety asset on this mission...it remains to be seen what shall be done with him.'
Amneris strode to the other side of the brazier, the light from the flames illuminating her beautiful face but instantly giving it a feral and chilling look of evil.
'When the time comes, and it will come brother, I desire the honor of assisting Count Khepher-Ra into the next realm.'
