I guess I'll do this since there's no one else. *G* Lalita Ashoka, in her extreme wisdom, has appointed me the newest museum Curator. I wrote our leaders a few weeks back offering to help revitalize the group. My intention is to keep Art of Ancient Worlds going for our active and new members. I really miss Lalita/Laurels and her gloriously funky leadership, but understand how real life can take precedent at times.
A little bit about me. I love art in all its forms and I have loved creating art ever since I can remember. My first art award was in sixth grade. I entered two colored pencil drawings inspired by the Frank Baum story, The Wizard of Oz, in an art fair. I spent summers when growing up at various art camps usually up to my elbows in wet clay making ceramic pieces, first in molds and then handbuilding my own things. My mother still has a lot of them in boxes in the shed. My love for pottery has continued to this day and was my focus in college ~ Raku and Indian pitfire my favorite techniques. I also studied printmaking (intaglio method) drawing and painting. Okay, enough about me.
I've updated the group's entrance page to reflect what I perceive is our current position. We also have a new featured artist! Our newest member, Muireadhach Niafer, has been posting her artwork in her new gallery and it sure is interesting. Please take a moment to visit her gallery and leave a message. I thank Lalita for this opportunity. Please feel free to make suggestions or not. Cheers!
