Sir Paul had been captured and thrown into a dungeon with his men, word arrived to Europe that he was due to be judged and executed very soon, Sir Gerard gathered all the escaped Templars he could and traveled to Holy Land at one, knowing that in the weeks he will spend sailing there some of the Sir Paul's Templars will burn on a stake, all he could do is going there and help.
His fleet touched land in the port of Ashakan with white flags to let the Moors know they were comming in peace, not warmly welcomed but they were finally allowed to leave their ships there, in an incredibly short time the company crossed the desert to The Templar's Fortress, they got there not wearing his Templar uniform (white cloak with a thing and long red cross all long and wide it) and were allowed in, fortunatelly the High Inquisitor Monsignore Paulo Boia had just recently arrived there from the Vatican, so just a few templars had been burned, Gerard demanded to be present in the trial of his friend Sir Paul.
Monsignore Boia sat in his cushioned chair, took a swing of his wine and motioned the guards to bring the defendant, Sir Paul had been allowed to shave but his hair had grown and his Templar Cloak was so dirty it was hard to be reckoned as a Templar Cloak, his wrists still bore the shackles and the chain bounding his hands was heavy, still he stood there proud and confident of himself as if he were wearing the most exquisite silk.
"Sir Paul Weston Welf" Monsignore Boia started "You're being accused of heresy and being against the Church among many other charges, are you aware that if you're found guilty you will be put to death?".
"I have nothing to fear, no wrong I'd ever done but if my men are unjustly sent to die I myself willfully accept the same fate".
