I must get to Gato's and leave him some milk before the coming storm really hit. Already the snow was starting to stick.
I was probably within thirty feet when I thought I saw something laying in front of the door of the Grotto. "Some two-legger must have dropped thier wrap." I thought. But the closer I got the less I thought it was someone's wrap. It looked like fur. I walked faster and was soon looking down at brownish red fur. I nudged the form with my nose. Barely warm but breathing. I pushed a couple more times and told the creature. "Wake up! Get up! You're going to freeze to death." The body did not move.
I crashed through the door unceremoniously and bellowed. "SOMEBODY COME QUICK! I NEED SOME HELP HERE!"
Gato, Flidhais and some tall wierd cat-like critter responded immediately and within seconds the stranger had scooped up the poor freezing dog and carried it inside placing it by the fire. Flidhais began massaging the animal and Gato brought warm milk. Hero and Scratch began licking the unconcious dog's face and ears trying to get circulation restored.
"He needs body heat." said Ramla and looked at me. I got the message and moved nearer to the dog then carefully lay down beside him, pressing my bulk as close to the poor beast as I dared. It would not do for us to try and save him if I squashed him with my 1800 pounds.
