    Here's a page about the Sutton Hoo burial. For those that aren't familiar with this hugely important piece of Anglo-Saxon archaeology (and the inspiration for my avatar), just read over the introduction.

    Also, click on the link for the cemetery. It isn't exactly new, but the burial of horse and rider together always brings my mind back to the Wanderer (and to Tolkien's use of it): "Where is the horse and the rider?..." Anglo-Saxon archaeology to me is poetic: and the poems were already being written by the Anglo-Saxons themselves! Sad and beautiful at the same time.
