EurekAlert has the important and scientific report New evidence of early horse domestication on new evidence on horse domstication 5.600 years ago at the Copper Age Krasnyi Yar site in northern Kazakhstan. The Krasnyi Yar site was inhabited by people of the Botai culture of the Eurasian Steppe, who relied heavily on horses for food, tools, and transport. The Borai culture was based on horse economy. Probably, horse domestication was earlier in Ukraine and West Russia than in Kazakhstan. The article gives a detailed informations on the geochemical techniques to locate the close to 54 houses and the results of analyses of soil samples. It gives also a historical and cultural outline of the Botai culture.
