There is an interesting museum in the center of Copenhagen, called "Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek" . Its an old building, fairly newly renovated, with collections from the ancient world as well as Danish and French art from the 19th and 20th centuries - including Danish Golden Age painting, French Impressionism and an important collection of French and Danish Sculpture.
From the start it was a private collection which were donated to the Danish State in 1888 by the brewer Carl Jacobsen, and itīs a very beautiful building.
There is a small, but very nice collection of Egyptian artifacts, of which the highlight probably is a statue of a hippo in calcite, dated to the beginning of the 1st Dynasty. There is also a beautiful head of what is believed to be Akhenatenīs eldest daughter, MerytAten. A mummy room and a statuary with several well preserved statues are also to be seen.
The website holds Information in general, Calendar, Collections (with thumbnails), Exhibitions, Info about the Museum and an online store but the gallery is not very large. However, itīs a beautiful and interesting place, if you ever go to Copenhagen, try not to miss it! :)
