It seems we have all of our surnames (save one) taken strictly from the Gothic peoples of "Germania"...
There are only a few "families" in Germania, as compared to a veritable plethora in Rome, Celtia, and Athens. What about some truly Scandinavian family names...there are some great ones...
Tryggvasson
Eiriksson
Hardràda
Yngling
Skalagrimsson
etc...
Just check the Heimskringla for a HUGE list of Nordic surnames. Most certainly, the Nordic peoples were "Germanic", right? And the names we have now are mostly mythological or ethnic appelations (i.e. "Ostrogoth", "Visigoth"...why don't we add "Norwegian" and "Dane" as family names while we're at it?)
The names I suggested are more historically-based than say, "Wuffing". Not that I have a problem with those names, but I thought this was a site dedicated to history, not mythology?
