I returned late yesterday evening to the sad, sad news of Caius' passing. I remember Caius Fabius from the early days of AncientSites (ten years ago, nearly) and Caius Fabius was among the early citizens of Rome.
We spoke occasionally and my experience certainly mirrors the memories of so many others: Caius Fabius was a gentleman, a Roman among Romans: good-humoured and polite.
It is always hard to lose friends and relatives to the Elysian Fields (and unfortunately, I received word this afternoon of the death of another good friend) and I find myself wondering, at times, if I sent an e-mail or left a message, would some part of his spirit answer?
Vale, Caio Fabio, vale!
