After evening prayers, I head to the Temple of Min to visit High Priest and Lord of Min, Senenmut. I carry with me offerings of fresh lettuce and garlands of lotus blossoms, in hopes that Min will again bless our yearly sojourn to Karnak. I know it is not far from Gebtu to Waset- then on to Luxor and Karnak. Even so, it is always a good idea to get into town early. At Opet, the population quadruples. Faithful come from far and wide to witness the Great Amun's manifestation. This year, the mob could multiply tenfold. It is said that a new King will be crowned.
I wait patiently for Senenmut in the Hall of Columns. After some time, a young temple page approaches.
"The High Priest has gone ahead," he informs me. "We have received word that he has arrived safely in the district of Asher. There, he meets with the priests of Mut. The Lady Kiya has sent this map to aid you and other priests of Khnemu."
The page places a gilded scroll before me, bows, then takes his leave. As I lift the scroll- I can clearly see the seal of Mayoress Kiya. It was kind of her to think ahead.
( Studying the map )
The Mayoress knows all the shortcuts. Why, there is one even I didn't know about. Let me see--
Using this route, we might even have the time to go by way of Kurna, paying respects at the Kings Valley, like last year, before crossing the Hap.
Tucking the scroll carefully under my arm, I exit the Temple of Min. The time has come to gather and go.
