How in Amun Ra’s name do things like this keep happening to them? “Someone should write all this down someday”, thought Spethi…”except no one would ever believe it”. She continued wiggling trying to free her self from the glass WITHOUT losing her pants. Then suddenly there was a loud rumbling and they were all free. Akne scurried into the corner like a little rat, Spethi would have bothered finding out what he was up to but she was engrossed by the giant hole in the floor.
She had seen Neffy swoop into it and so far (knock on marble) she hadn’t heard and shrieks or wails of pain or other unimaginable sufferings. Then Ankhe pushed Akne in and she swore that the Bast statue had a little something to do with Alli going in. Since Akne went in Badgirl leaped in. Aseneth secretly pulled out the bottle of wine she had snagged from the bar, took a deep chug and leapt in, Tay, having spied the wine didn’t even blink, he just followed the wine down the hole. Pretty soon Spethi was alone…everyone else having gone into the abyss. She pondered the situation. History has a way of repeating itself and history told her she would be sorry if she followed her companions. She sat on the paws of NebMaatRe trying to decide…”to follow or not to follow…that was the question”.
“Aww damn”, she thought and leapt in.
Spethi slid down a ramp…as she was sliding she heard a scream, a Neffy scream. “Oh greeeeeat”, thought Spethi, “NOW I hear the screaming”. She saw a series of doors and managed to grab a handle of one of them and saying a blessing to every god she could think of, she turned the knob and stepped in.
The room was dark, lit only by a single brazier…she stood silently waiting for eyes to adjust. Then she heard a slithering. She turned just in time to see a giant Uraeus rear back and strike her.
…sometime later Spethi awoke, aching in every part of her body. She rolled over and stood up. Something seemed…well, different. She looked down and gasped. Instead of feet she saw furry paws, and, she was getting an intense craving to chase any small creature she could find. “Get a grip!”, thought Spethi. In the center of the room stood a tablet, she padded over and began reading:
Those that dare enter this room and disturb this ancient dust beware! A terrible fate awaits you from the kiss of the serpent’s tongue. To break the curse one must find the secret, but be warned! The cure may be worse then the curse and the journey perilous to find it.
Spethi sighed deeply, or rather she purred deeply. Of course she was cursed! Of course the journey would be perilous! Spending eternity wandering an empty cursed tomb as a cat suddenly didn’t sound THAT bad. Things could be worse, and she was sure that if she left this room they would get worse.
She sat and licked her paws. On the bright side she could see in the dark fairly well now, and it did feel glorious to stretch. She wondered what was happening to the rest of the Watering Hole crew. Well they were on their own as she was…she wasn’t going to worry about them. She curled into a ball and tried to nap but the pesky curiosity got the best of her. She had to find them. She nosed the door open and slipped into the hall…
