    And hopefully Maria and Decius will jump in with more information or correct me if I'm wrong.

    1 - I would think that even if the site is no longer active, the copyright still is in place for the articles and graphics contained within. There are many reasons why the website is no longer maintained but the information contained still belongs to the original author.

    2 - We've noticed that many webowners are far more proactive in policing their materials over the year. Many use what is known as a 'spider' to search out key words and phrases on the web to find them on other pages and then they can determine if the information is theirs.

    3 - I would add as much information and credit as possible whenever adding a link. Also check the copyright information....some will say that the information contained cannot be used without permission and some will allow you to use it for 'educational purposes only.'

    The best bet is to use your own work whenever possible or place a link or credits.
