Excellent post... something I can work with.... this is a great object to help show the power of subD modelling. :D You can easily see that the geometry you created to make the saddle (that's my calculus showing thru :D ) doesn't lend itself to a smooth transition from the curved area inside the horns to the outside faces. This type of shape can easily be recreated with subD tools. It is quite literally a 2 minute job if you take your time. I'll do a quick tut tomorrow showing the steps.
