The idea of random words is great! I use a version of this method. I will write some words down on paper. These words may come from a random flip through the dictionary or some words I saw in the newspaper I was reading, and so on. I then try to use those words in my writing for that day.

Sometimes it is also useful and fun to write something as you imagine another author would. For example, when you are stuck, think how your favorite author would write what you have to write, or how would your boss or husband or wife write it?

How would you write it for someone that is new to your country? A novice in your field of expertise?
