I have listened to Dr. McInerney's lectures for 2 years now and NEVER picked up on his error concerning Alexander's age at Chaeronea! And I do find it curious in someone who, otherwise, I haven't caught out in any errors at all.
Dr. McInerney's series on Alexander the Great and the Hellenistic Age I did find vaguely disappointing, although I probably shouldn't - out of something like 12 lectures (I'm doing this from memory), only four actually dealt with Alexander's life and career, and the rest dealt with the endless wars as the Successors took over various parts of Alexander's Empire. I suppose there really is not that much there to work with, that is incontrovertibly true regarding Alexander's life, but the light really went out of the series for me once Alexander was dead and buried. Plus, I detect a hint of the "Alexander as megalomaniac" prejudice in the tapes on Alexander themselves, but that's probably because I'm so far in the opposite direction that I simply don't want to pursue anyone who's fallen for the megalomaniac diagnosis.
That said, I did very much enjoy his history of ancient Greece and join with you in recommending it!
