    A gladiatorial contest depicted on pottery found at Colchester, Essex. Memno, who wears the helmet of a Samnite, holds his short stabbing sword in his left hand, a characteristic always dreaded by an opponent. (From "Life in Roman Britain" by Joan Alcock, ISBN 0-7134-6745-2.)
