Ave!
It would be my suggestion that we could, or should have 'Gladiators for hire'. Essentially, these would be matches between ourselves, and the other Gladiators and Gladiatrixes. These would be a story that would be a play by play, blow by blow account of a gladitorial match, where one of us would be the victor, and another the loser. Of course, you wouldn't kill anyone else, unless you made up a ficticious name.
These scripts (and/or pictures) could be used by other Ancient World citizens for their own journals. It would be as though they had hired a pair of Gladiators to fight for the honour of their own ancestors.
Contests could also be held in the arena, and the results of these might be made available to other role-playing groups to post in their logs/ blogs/ journals. For them, it would simply be a matter of 'cut and paste', or perhaps an external link to our site.
This would mean that Gladitorial matches would have to occur on a frequent basis, so that other groups might have something to watch. I suppose that it might get a bit tiring or repetitive if it was the same (or similar) type of match happening over and over again.
Perhaps bets could also be placed between two different Gladiators. I am not sure how this would work, except that the winner would have to be chosen ahead of time. Perhaps if there were two different pictures within the library. One would have a picture of a Gladiator that said "My Gladiator was Victorious", and another that said "My Gladiator was defeated!" Perhaps even a plaque to show that you had won.
In order to 'bet', you would have to purchase a picture from the library. Unless a method can be worked out where winnings, odds, etc. were calculated. Would there be a way to pay out 'winnings', where someone that only betted 10 sesterciis could somehow win 100 or 1000, for example? We might have a picture of a purse, or a chest of gold.
I think that we could also have chariot races as well, and charioteers. I see no reason why the Gladiators could not do double duty as charioteers.
We could write a series of stories, involving each of the Gladiator types fighting each other, where one was victorious and the other, defeated. These would be anonymous Gladiators. We could insert names for these later. There might be some way of randomizing which Gladiator won, or lost. We might have to get the help of the Gods for that.
