    1. "Emperor" Theodoric. Theodoric never called himself emperor of the Western Empire. In some ways he acted like one, and in his only extant official portrait (the Senigallia medallion) he wears no crown, like Roman emperors on coins. However he might have called himself "King of Italy" (Hodgkin) and on inscriptions he is referred to as "Dominus Rex".

    2. Confused with Theodoric II. Whenever a book quotes a detailed description of Theodoric's physical appearance (wide shoulders, thick beard etc.) and of his daily activities, strongly doubt the book as a source: this is actually Theodoric II, king of the Visigoths, as described by Sidonius Apollinaris (I,II), when Theodoric was a baby. We're talking about Theodoric the Great, with no numerals, since he was the only one with this name in his line.

    3. TheodOric instead of TheodEric. All inscriptions spell his name as THEODERICUS. However Theodoric is the most common modern form. Sorry, I'd be more philologically correct but my mind is weak and I'd just swing wildly from one form to the other.
