The Beautiful Festival of Opet was celebrated annually in Thebes. Occurring at the time of Inundation in the season of Akhet, which would mean August-September in modern days. It was celebrated each year and lasted from 11 to 27 days. During the festival divine kingship was reborn and the the king's position as pharaoh reaffirmed. Hi folks, I just wanted to check in and see how preparations for the Opet Festival goes. Soon we only have a month left - four weeks! Eeep!!

I´m sure both Nil and I would like to see a li´l list of what people are doing or planning for the festivities at this point. Myself, I will post about the procession from Ipet-Isut (Karnak) along the processional route (3 km) to Ipet-Resut (the Luxor temple). I´ll be the Kheri-Hebt, walking together with Nil and reading out of the sacred scrolls as her assistant. This will be fun! :)
