also very well written ^-^ I like that you showed how religion tries to give the universe a sense of order that is destined to be reassuring to those who believe, something that I think is one of the main purposes of religion. It would also explain why accusing someone of witchcraft was such a terrible accusation during centuries - because witches/wizards, by definition, are credited with supernatural powers, and therefore by using these powers, were thought to disrupt this precise, but also fragile, equilibrium of the universe, possibly bringing us nearer to the terrors of chaos. Or at least, that's how I would understand it in regard to what Faramir shared with us in his post
Btw, given the title, I hope there's a volume 2 (or maybe even more after that?) *g*
