We are happily sailing toward the veil between this world and the Otherworld when Sabhdh suddenly stops mid-leap.

"Och! What's wrong? I can't see!" Balbhuaidh chirps in my ear and squirms about in an attempt to see around me.

"A great round shield appeared out of nowhere and is blocking our way," I explain.

"Scathach! Is she here?" he asks excitedly. His squirming becomes frenetic.

"Yes. In fact she's standing right in front of us and has an altogether strange looking fellow with her. I think they want to talk to us."

"What do they want of us?"

"I believe we're about to find out. Now do sit still!"

"Halt!" Scathach booms so loud we're blown backward and almost fall off Sabhdh. "Where do you two think you're going?"

"Home to our Mòraì," we manage to squeak in unison.

"Home? Now? When there's a Hurley match to play?!! I think not!!!" she roars with the sternest look on her face. "You two march right over to the playing field, grab yourselves each a camán and make your Mòraì and the Gruagach proud."

Wide-eyed we gulp loudly, nod our heads and obey She Who Strikes Fear, though I am hesitant to leave Sabhdh unattended.

"Don't worry about your fiadh, wee lass" growls Ceaudach Mor. "I'll find her a safe place to graze."

"Thank you kindly, sir," I say with a bow and a sigh of relief. Sabhdh was with us the entire time we were in the maze. I don't like to leave her alone in strange places lest she gets herself in trouble by eating people's food when they're not looking.

We part company with the Albanach queen of shadows and her formidable Pictish champion and weave our way through the crowds to where the adults are striking the sliotar and one another. It is truly a terrible sight to see! While the Sons of Mil struggle to play an honest game, the Dé Danann have bladed camán and other dirty tricks. This infuriates me and brings the hero's fire to my brow. With my humble Milesian camán in hand, I give a great Champion's Cry and charge into the chaos.

"Uh oh!" is all Balbhuaidh says. Bare-footed and stripped to the waist, my moonskinned brother and his pair of ravens take up the rear. We are ready to teach the Children of Danu a lesson they'll not soon forget.
