    The Beautiful Festival of Opet was celebrated annually in Thebes. Occurring at the time of Inundation in the season of Akhet, which would mean August-September in modern days. It was celebrated each year and lasted from 11 to 27 days. During the festival divine kingship was reborn and the the king's position as pharaoh reaffirmed. On a cosmic level, the festival "secured the regeneration of the Creator, Amun of Luxor, the rebirth of Amun-Re of Karnak, and the recreation of the cosmos."
